Moby Wrap and Ergo Review

I've discussed this blessed gift before. The Moby Wrap. I've heard mixed reviews from my friends. I love this wrap. It was a complete lifesaver for us for the first four months of Carmine's life.

We had a fussy baby. He wasn't colic, so there wasn't screaming (that didn't start till last month - Italian temper is in full affect). He was just a fuss. There wasn't a lot of sleeping. He hardly took naps and we were usually up most of the night.

Once we received the Moby Wrap - it was as if he had been crying for it the whole time. I wrapped him up nice a snug and he fell right to sleep. He would sleep through most any noise or commotion around us.

It takes practice. You have to learn how to wrap it properly and it will take a few times to comfortable get your bundle in and out. I even watched YouTube videos on how to wrap. Sometimes it helps if you wrap it in a mirror first. Then, after a while, you will be wrapping it half asleep in seconds.

The Moby Wrap allows your little one to be snug up against you so they can hear your heartbeat and feel your warmth. Our little man hated being swaddled but loved being wrapped! It is the same idea as swaddling, it creates a safe and secure feeling for your little one.

Moby Wrap gives you all the information you need on their website. The wrap grows with your baby with a variety of ways to wear it!

On some of the worst nights or during a meltdown you are even able to do skin to skin in the comfort of your own home. Sometimes it takes him being down to a diaper up against my skin and he would fall right to sleep. The wrap doesn't have any buckles or snaps that would make this uncomfortable.

My suggestion to save money is, if you have a friend that has one, ask if you can borrow it for a week to see if your little one likes it before you invest in it. I know that babies are particular and some things work and some things don't. Sadly we don't get to test drive all of these products and despite reviews, it's not a guarantee your little one will like.

Now that my little man is reaching 20 pounds it's more comfortable and easier for me to use the Ergo Carrier. Now, the Moby Wrap says you can use it up to 35 pounds, and I still use it around the house, but when I am food shopping, I get nervous because he is so heavy in the wrap. The Ergo Carrier gives you the same comfort and closeness with more support.

I tested my friend's out one day when we were walking around the mall. We had registered for and tried to use another carrier. The issue I had is, I am very "top heavy" so he would stick out. He didn't mold to my body. On top of the fact, I found the other carrier incredibly uncomfortable. The Ergo is made from softer material that allows for more flexibility. So it provides more structural support but the area the baby is in is still soft like the Moby Wrap.

The Ergo Carrier is expensive. Shop around first - Babies R Us and Target are my favorite baby stores because there is usually always some type of sale going on. If not, you can buy directly from there website here. They have a variety of styles and patterns. This might be your best bet because you have a lot to choose from. Typically there aren't a lot of options - in store.

Now, the key to this carrier is - Loosen the side straps before you put it on. Once you put your baby in place, slide the straps over your shoulders and snap the clip on your upper back, THEN tighten the side straps. This will make sense once you have it. Ergo is awesome because they have all the  instructions on their website. I love this carrier, I use it around the house, running errands... really anytime. Its comfortable enough that he falls asleep by me just walking around the store and it's comfortable for Mommy too! So grateful my friend suggested it!

I hope my reviews helped. Even if it just gets your thinking - I really love both of these. Though they are pricey, I can honestly say, worth every penny. I am a bargain shopper but when it comes to these carriers its worth full price.

I've included a few pics to show that he slept in our Moby Wrap for the first few months. One picture is a not so flattering shot of me exhausted, asleep with no make up - but it had been a long night until I finally wrapped him. Looking at these pictures I can see how much he grew. My handsome love is growing up way too fast!
Happy Carrying!
